Cowboys-Giants: The bottom line

11:24 PM CDT on Sunday, October 22, 2006

By TODD ARCHER / The Dallas Morning News

The Cowboys will win if ...

They can run the ball and stop the run. Julius Jones needs another big day to keep the Giants' offense off the field, and Jason Ferguson needs a big day to slow down Tiki Barber. If the Cowboys get the lead, they must continue attacking because the Giants can score points in a hurry.

The Giants will win if ...

They can put pressure on Drew Bledsoe.

When Bledsoe has felt pressure, he has made mistakes. Defensive ends Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora are game-changers and need to be accounted for at all times. If they can be disruptive, that will force the Cowboys to limit their passing game. A win and the Giants would have a huge advantage in the division with victories at Philadelphia and Dallas.
