There's no guarantee Baker will be on the team when the season starts, but the Cowboys are taking an extended look at him. And with Drew Henson no longer on the roster, Baker will get all of the scout-team practice repetitions and a few with the third team. He will have every opportunity to prove he deserves a roster spot – or at least a spot on the practice squad.
