Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens is scheduled to have a special splint removed from his right ring finger today in Dallas.
Owens underwent a second surgery on his finger to reattach the tendon that was torn during the 2006 season.
Doctors in Miami, where the surgery was performed, told Cowboys' officials Owens has to limit his travel to prevent the tendon from tearing during his recovery.
He arrived at Valley Ranch on Tuesday and worked out with his teammates for the first time this off-season. Owens is expected to learn the offense under offensive coordinator Jason Garrett and have face-to-face talks with several new coaches including wide receivers coach Ray Sherman.
Owens said he's been working with a hand specialist three days a week in Florida.
Owens, who led the Cowboys in receiving last year, has no motion in the finger and no timetable is set to when he'll have that.
Trainers expect Owens to catch passes at the start of training camp, but the receiver said he hopes to do so by the end of May.
