Cowboys assistants head to New York teams

01:08 AM CST on Tuesday, January 30, 2007

From Staff and Wire Reports

The Cowboys lost two more assistant coaches Monday when Chris Palmer officially was hired by the New York Giants as quarterbacks coach and safeties coach Mike MacIntyre joined the New York Jets.

Palmer was with the Cowboys for just one season, but he developed a tight bond with quarterback Tony Romo. MacIntyre had been with the Cowboys since 2003.

Palmer takes over the job of making Eli Manning a more consistent player.

"I had Chris speak with Eli the other day, and they talked for about 20, 25 minutes," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. "They discussed many aspects of the quarterback position, and I know they're going to work hard together on the fundamentals."

Staff Writer Todd Archer and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
