WRs hope a lot of balls come their way

Glenn, Owens ready to put depleted Seattle secondary to the test

By CALVIN WATKINS / The Dallas Morning News

IRVING – Terry Glenn and Terrell Owens are hungry for the ball and hope to feast on an injury-riddled Seattle secondary in Saturday night's NFC wild-card game.

Seattle starting cornerback Kelly Herndon and backup Jimmy Williams are on injured reserve.

Marcus Trufant, who starts opposite Herndon, is doubtful for Saturday with a high ankle sprain.

"We have to pass to show a little balance," Glenn said. "I think our team is more set up for the pass based on the weapons we have. Obviously, every game we're going to come in and try to pass the ball. But since they're depleted at corner, it makes it a little more special."

Jordan Babineaux will start in Herndon's place, and if Trufant isn't able to play, Kelly Jennings would play in his spot. Babineaux was playing safety and some corner in nickel and dime packages.

"It's not like this safety that's playing there doesn't have any experience," Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said. "He's been up there quite a bit during the season."

The Seahawks also signed former Cowboys cornerback Pete Hunter this week to add depth.

Haynesworth says cut block set him off: Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth said in a recent issue of ESPN The Magazine that he stomped on Andre Gurode's face because the Cowboys center had chop blocked him. Haynesworth was suspended five games for the incident that occurred Oct. 1 in Tennessee. Gurode received more than 30 stitches in his forehead and eye area.

Haynesworth said that while he was being blocked by left guard Kyle Kosier, Gurode blocked him at the knees, which is illegal.

Gurode said he's put the incident behind him and wouldn't comment further.

Henry says he's OK to play: Despite a right knee that's caused him discomfort for the last month, cornerback Anthony Henry said he's ready to play.

"I feel like I'm not where I want to be, but at the same time I'm all right to play and make plays," Henry said. "I came out of last week's game feeling the same as I do now, so I think I'll be fine."

Henry said his knee could be drained but he would run the risk of an infection, so he will keep icing it down instead.

Briefly: The Cowboys signed linebacker John Saldi, whose father, Jay, played tight end for the club, to a futures contract Thursday with the intent of sending him to NFL Europe. Saldi was one of the final cuts in training camp last August. ... Parcells had crowd noise pumped into Friday's practice to get his team accustomed to the noise level at Qwest Field.
