Dallas Cowboys waive center, tight end

11:12 PM CDT on Thursday, July 2, 2009

The Cowboys waived rookie tight end Jamar Hunt and center Matt Spanos on Thursday.

Hunt (6-7, 253) was a free agent from UT-El Paso who didn't fit the Cowboys' plans after the late May signing of tight end Scott Chandler (6-7, 265) of Southlake Carroll. Spanos (6-5, 310) was signed in mid-January after going to training camp with the Miami Dolphins last August.

The Cowboys report to training camp July 28 in San Antonio.
