Emmitt Smith has consistently declined to divulge who will introduce him at the Hall of Fame, saying he wants to give the process, "the respect it deserves."
He finally gave it up on Twitter.
Those who follow the former Cowboys running back discovered Thursday night that owner Jerry Jones will introduce Smith at Canton this summer.
Jones did not tweet his confirmation, but he did issue a statement through the club.
"Emmitt Smith's induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame is truly special," the release stated. "It's an honor that I share with Dallas Cowboys fans everywhere."
Smith played a guessing game with his followers Thursday night, at one point tweeting, "I'm real honored to have this person intro me cuz he's done so much for me in my career."
Smith will follow teammates Michael Irvin and Troy Aikman into the Hall of Fame. Those three fueled the Cowboys' championship run in the 1990s. Jones presented Irvin at his induction ceremony in 2007.
"It's not like we didn't think and appreciate them when it was going on," Jones said of the three last month. "You knew they were special.
"Emmitt personifies what they were about as football players in the NFL."
