Gordon Hale of Grand Prairie: I watched the Democrat hopeful's speech, and I will watch John McCain's. I expect him to say just what he has always said. I do not expect him to make pie-in-the-sky promises for whomever he is aiming at. I expect him to be truthful, as he always has been. I will vote for John McCain. He will be the first major party candidate I have voted for since President Reagan.

Shirlene Lucy of Carrollton: I will TiVo it to watch later Thursday night. I'd like to hear some specifics in his speech as to how he intends to implement some of his plans such as privatizing Social Security and health care. I like the concept, but am nervous about whoever will be running those programs.

Annemarie Moore of Bartonville: Yes, I plan to watch John McCain accept the Republican nomination for president. I look for and expect to hear truth and real knowledge from his speech, as opposed to the fantasy that came forth in the Democratic candidate's speech.

Joe McCarthy of Carrollton: That he has dropped his first choice for vice president and has chosen someone with some experience in national and international politics. He has shown his age with his current choice.

Jacqualea Cooley of Irving: Thursday night will be the highlight of my week. I think John McCain has taken the high road and has only begun to surround himself with intelligent and unique people. I am excited about the unlimited prospects that have started unfolding with his choice of Sarah Palin for his vice president.

No, I won't watch. It's like Olympics gymnastics with me; I'm so dreading the possibility that a U.S. gymnast will miss her landing or stumble on the low beam that I can't watch without tranquilizers.

I hope to hear about a viable improvement in the U.S. economy and an alternative energy investment plan. Also, how his administration plans to increase the value of the dollar, which is at an unprecedented low.

I would like to hear John McCain promise that his campaign will not resort to the Rovian-type of innuendo politics that doomed his own White House bid in the 2000 primaries.

Absolutely. I'll be watching this historic moment, and I want my children and grandchildren to watch it, too. We all watched Barack Obama's amazing moment, and it will be exciting to contrast the two events.
