I take offense at Steve Thompson's description of the Patriot Guard riders as a "motorcycle gang" in his story.

This "gang" that Mr. Thompson refers to is made up of riders that capture the very soul of America – represented by all races and professions – to include peace officers. The next time Mr. Thompson takes a swipe at "motorcycle gangs," he should do a bit of research – at minimum, check out the Web site of The Patriot Guard he refers to.

The Patriot Guards' mission statement reads: " The Patriot Guard Riders are a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America's freedom and security."
