We need more nuance ...

Re: "Too Much Nuance? McCain's clarity could beat Obama's insight," Tuesday Editorials.

The prevailing wisdom seems to be that Sen. Barack Obama's remarks are too nuanced and difficult to comprehend. He needs, you wrote, to speak to the people at Wal-Mart in 10-word sentences telling them exactly what he will do to make their lives better.

I agree to a point, but, on the other hand, I believe that what this country needs is a heaping dose of what you call nuance. We need to sit still for a minute and listen and think about the ramifications of our actions. The present administration is full of people who think narrowly or are stuck in their own particular world-view. Do we need four more years of this?

You may be right. Maybe Mr. Obama can't win with his natural style, but I think it's a shame. The mere fact that Mr. Obama opposed the Iraq War from the very beginning says a great deal about the quality of the man's decision-making.
