Consider the land

Grapevine homeowners in the Shadow Glen subdivision were surprised by the waiver/variance that was slipped in, and that, in some cases, homeowners were pressured to sign, which reduced the 1,000-foot drilling setback to 300 feet, according to The Colleyville Courier.

Maybe this should be a wakeup call for both the 360 Northwest Coalition and Cimarron Field Services, and they should brace themselves for what is yet to come.

The main focus of energy producers is to achieve their ultimate goal with no regard for neighborhoods or city ordinances.

And if objections are raised, be prepared for lawsuits.

The gas companies paint a benign picture of the drilling process, but the reality is quite malignant. Toxic chemicals are used during the fracing process, and these contaminants are released into the air and groundwater.

The drilling companies are also exempt from the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and Safe Drinking Water Act.

People should be more concerned about the possible irreversible damage to land, water, wildlife, quality of life, property values and human health than the minimal compensation offered for the rape of our land.
