A year after Staubach played his last game, Danny White flashed a flair for daring drama. He connected with Drew Pearson, Staubach's favorite clutch receiver, for two touchdowns in the final 3:40 to overtake a strong Falcons team that twice had led by 14 points.

White-to-Pearson for 14 yards cut it to 27-24, then a 23-yarder sealed Atlanta's fate with 42 seconds left.

Tom Landry called Pearson's two scoring catches "miracles."

Falcons coach Leeman Bennett winced at the memory of his team's losing a 24-10 fourth-quarter lead.

"You just can't afford to relax against a team that has the kind of firepower that Dallas does," he said.
